The Torch Theatre is thrilled to announce a programme of Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre Summer Schools for children and young people, taking place in August this year at the Torch. Places can now be booked for some great summer fun with new friends, boundless creativity and heaps of learning.

This year, the Torch Summer School includes the following:

The week-long Torch Drama Workshops are led by industry experts and both weeks will end in a sharing performance on the Torch Theatre stage with parents and guardians invited to come along and watch (no charge).

The sessions each day are drama led and involve fun, games, challenges and opportunities to learn new drama skills and perform in a safe environment – everything you would expect from the Torch Youth Theatre.

The Junior Youth Theatre Drama Summer School, for 7 to 10 years old, is during the week: 

Monday 1st to Friday 5th August – from 9.30am to 4.00pm

Cost is £60 per child/ £50 sibling for ages 7 - 10

The Senior Youth Theatre Drama Summer School for 11 to 16 year olds is the following week on:

Monday 8th – Friday 12th August – from 9.30am to 4.00pm

The cost for both week-long workshops is £60 per child and £50 for a sibling for both Junior and Senior age groups.

Joon Dance Summer School at the Torch

If dance is more your thing, then how about four day-long workshops learning ‘Odette’s Revenge’, which is a modern sequel to Swan Lake and again, culminating in a show. Joon Dance have been regular visitors to the Torch Theatre and Zosia, who runs the company, is well respected and has a loyal following.  You can find out more about the Dance Summer School by emailing Zosia at joondance@gmail.com or visiting the website here.

Children and young people of all ages can attend:

Joon Bugs ages 6-10, Jooniers ages 12-16, Joon Youth/Gold 16+ (with no upper age limit)

Dates for the Dance Summer School are:

Monday August 15th - Thursday August 18th:  9.30am - 12.30pm, and show day on

Friday 19th August from 1pm onwards with the show on the same day at 7.30pm. 

The cost for everyone attending the workshops is either the support price of £85 (to help Joon Dance recover from the pandemic and support future work) or the standard price of £75.

Concessions and sibling price: £65 (concessions for two members of the same immediate family) or family price: £55 (where three or more members of the same immediate family book together). Tickets to attend the performance are priced at £6.00.

Musical Theatre Week Summer School to produce Legally Blonde Junior!

Monday 22nd August to Friday 26th August is the Torch Theatre’s musical theatre workshop which will result in a sharing performance for parents and guardians on the last day.

Run by musical director and voice coach, Angharad Sanders (Torch Voices) with support from Pembrokeshire Drama practitioner, Lucy O’Neill, participants will work together to create the musical Legally Blonde Junior in a week!

For children and young people aged 10 and over, workshops will run from 9.30am to 4.00pm and the price is £75 per child / £65 sibling with no charge for the end of week performance.

We are also offering a multibuy offer: £115 per child | £100 sibling – to attend both the Senior Youth Theatre Workshops and the Musical Theatre week.
