Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Review by Riley Barn

After Shadow the Hedgehog escapes from an elusive G.U.N facility team “Sonic” is called in to stop him. Unbeknownst to them Shadow is stronger than any force they've come across. After regrouping they meet with an old Nemesis to try and work together to stop Shadow while also discovering the history of G.U.N and some others as well.

Right, the long anticipated and well received Sonic 3. I must begin by stating how the first 2 Sonic films are some of the best video game adaptations ever, they helped kick off a new era of good video game adaptations and ended the stigma that video games and movies couldn't mix. With each passing Sonic film, the faithfulness of the films grows, and the next movie in the series follows suit with this pattern. Now I have heard that the third installment in the Sonic films is considered the best but I must respectfully disagree. My only issue with the film is that with the influx of characters it seems they struggle to share the spotlight. There are very blunt scenes where characters just say how they are feeling which can bring the movie down slightly but on some occasions it actually adds a personal touch where you know exactly what the characters are feeling. Now as you may have heard the climax of the film is apparently very good and I can safely say that this is in fact true. This part is full of emotion, humour and very good action, and although I wish the action was longer I understand why it was cut short.

Now if you've seen the trailer or know the games you may know of the character Professor Gerald Robotnic, throughout the film he and Dr Robotnic have quite a family dynamic, while Agent Stone is left in the dust. I love the Agent Stone’s character. He reminds me of the classic villain henchman who is actually bad but just really enjoys being with the villain. He's like Smithers from The Simpsons and it's so fun to watch. Although I can’t go into much detail about the story I can say that it follows the near exact path that the stories have especially for Shadow’s backstory. The comedy feels like Sonic, Shadow sounds perfect and for any of you going to watch the film, I want to tell you this, there is an end credit scene, and you NEED to watch it! It's arguably the best end credit of the three movies. All of this together makes the film my personal second favourite but not by much. It's very difficult to pick which is best because I think they're all very good.

All in all it is a perfect installment in the Sonic franchise and will make for a great platform to launch new films off. Definitely watch this movie.
