Mufasa: The Lion King Review by Freya Barn

This movie very much reminds me of the story of Simba. It begins...

Rafiki babysits Simba and Nalas young child Kiara under the watch of Pumbaa and Timon. He begins to tell the story of Mufasa. Mufasa and his parents are dreaming about the promised lands of Milele, where everything is perfect and everyone joins hand in hand with each other in perfect harmony. Although, after a flood, Mufasa is swept away in the rush and is found by a new pack, although, he isn’t accepted right away. He is threatened and almost eaten, although, Eshe, the wife of the king tells him no. The king suggests a race against his own son, Taka. A deal is made. IF Taka wins, they eat Mufasa, if Mufasa wins, he stays with the pride. The race begins. Luckily, Mufasa wins, but the king still treats him as an outsider. Taka treats him as his own brother. Years later, they grow up together and it's like they are family, even if the king still doesn't accept Mufasa. Even in their pride and joy, they are threatened by new outsiders during hunting sessions and Mufasa takes them down. With them a day away, the king chooses to protect the packs future blood line and sends Taka and Mufasa away. Sadly, no one but Taka and Mufasa survive, but they aren’t safe yet. Still being hunted they run, far away and narrowly escape. Will Mufasa and Taka escape? You will have to find out...

This is a great movie. Although, in my opinion, it feels just like Simba's experience, just with different characters and villains. Even with that though, the movie was portrayed brilliantly and all throughout the movie you feel immersed as if you were inside of the movie. The voice acting was great and I couldn't tell if the lions were real lions! The setting of each scene was perfect and made me really feel that I really was inside of the African Savannah. Throughout the movie we see how Mufasa grows up and faces many different challenges, which can teach children the importance of bravery and courage as well as friendship and forgiveness, as we see at the very end of the movie. For some reason I was surprised to find it was a musical, but of course the original movies had music in! On that note, I was very surprised to find the songs were wrote by the very famous Lin-Manuel Miranda. The songs in the movie add a catchy and fun element to the movie. Even with such a great movie, one thing to note that this is a prequel and some of the endings can be predicted easily, but even with that this was a great movie and I really enjoyed watching it.

Overall, Mufasa is a great movie and I would recommend this to people who did enjoy the original movies of the lion king. It's a great movie and I would watch it again to experience the amazing wonders of the African Savannah once again. I recommend this to all people. It is definitely worth watching.
