Glowing Ravers Review by Freya

Before I start, I must warn you. This play contains horrible language, use of underage drinking and especially having the best time of your lives at an amazing, absolutely exquisite rave! Are you the one who always drives your friends home after a late night out drinking? Are you the only responsible one so your friends put you in charge of safety? Well, come along and have the best night out at a rave!

In this play, everyone has something different about them than others. An obsession with books, overprotective of their friend's safety and being extremely smart. This meet up is for those who want to have fun. As the text has been sent out, people are noticing quickly. They plan to go out. Some being just a little cheeky and bringing along some bottles of beer, even though the organizers strictly said no beer or alcohol. Others are a little annoyed that they are doing a “Dry rave,” I mean “Sober Rave.” Upon arriving, people begin to dance but are quickly shut up by the police. The police go and they are annoyed and complain that this is a public area and that they are allowed to be here. Then, they begin to argue, people pull out bottles of alcohol and take small sips. Then someone reaches out and tells people the true meaning of a rave. Socializing and making new friends. Not beer, not getting your first kiss and not unnecessarily loud music. They sit down and connect and soon take part in a silent rave.

When you first walk in, the scene is set, but in a very peculiar way. The chairs are organized in a rectangle around the “stage.” From every angle you could see something happen. Along with the stage and seating, people have gotten into their roles amazingly. People along the side talking and, in the middle, someone was crocheting along with talking to their friend. It was like a huge friend meet up. Even after a scene was done, they’d go back to the sides of the “stage” and begin to talk cheerfully again. I was in awe at this idea, although, on the downside, it can make it hard to hear a character if they are facing away from you and can cause some people discomfort having to lean forward to see the other side of the stage, but than that, I loved the idea.

The plot was amazingly thought out and isn't what I would have expected. I found it very intriguing. It was a wonderful switch up and made the show even better. It gives people a life lesson that raves aren’t always about drugs and alcohol. About getting your first kiss and getting yourself so drunk that you can't even stand up. It's about making friends. It teaches us that teenage years aren’t always trouble making and sneaking out. It’s a very well thought show and is performed amazingly. Even the tiniest details made the show perfect.

I love this show, and I think you would too.
