FIRST IMPRESSIONS REVIEW OF PANTO
If you're looking for some Family Festive Fun this holiday season, then look no further than The Torch Theatre's Christmas Pantomime Beauty and The Beast. Festively written and directed by Artistic Director Chelsey Gillard and starring an exceptional cast including Samuel Freeman (Beast), Leila Hughes (Belle), Ceri Mears (Good Fairy Gertrude), Ceri Ashe (Evil Fairy Shadowmist), Amelia Ryan (Crystal the Butler), Lloyd Grayshon (Belle's father), and Freya Dare (swing).
When the Beast takes Belle's father prisoner she won't let him get away with it...Oh, no she won't! Join Belle, her magical Fairy Godmother and the Beast's clumsy Butler on this fun adventure for the whole family.
I’ve had the utmost pleasure of attending the First table read/rehearsal of the Torch Theatre's upcoming Christmas Pantomime. My first impression that I share with fellow reviewer Val Ruloff is that this Tale as old as pantomime is a must-see. With stunning grand and golden set design and beautiful period and ornate contemporary costumes from Kevin Jenkins, original music by James Williams, and featuring outstanding performances throughout the read-through, as each actor brought personality and charm to their respective roles.
This Panto will transport audiences of all ages to a magical world of fantasy and adventure as from the moment the front cloth goes up what awaits is an enchanting atmosphere of effervescence. Chelsey Gillard's wonderful script captures the pure delight of what makes a Pantomime sparkle and shine, as she expertly balances the comedic and emotional elements, making you laugh, cry, boo and cheer in equal measure. And it promises an afternoon or evening of festive family fun that will leave you feeling uplifted and entertained. Don't miss out on this enchanting holiday experience. Make sure to catch The Torch Theatre's Christmas Pantomime Beauty and The Beast before the last petal falls.
