Dad’s Army Radio Show

The nation’s favourite sitcom returns! This October the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven welcomes two actors, two microphones, over twenty-five characters - and lots of sound effects as The Dad’s Army Radio Show comes to Pembrokeshire! Perry and Croft’s classic BBC comedy will come to life in this highly acclaimed stage production adapted for radio for the very first time and hilariously and lovingly enacted on stage.

The two master performers - complete with sound effects, vintage music and all your favourite Perry and Croft characters and catchphrases will see the original television episodes newly minted for The Dad’s Army Radio Show national tour this year.

David Benson (Goodnight Sweetheart and One Man, Two Guvnors) and Jack Lane (Wisdom of a Fool and 7 Days) will transport Torch Theatre audiences right back to Walmington, working from original television scripts – complete with sound effects, vintage music and all of Perry and Croft’s beloved characters and catchphrases. This show has been highly acclaimed by critics and by audiences of all ages.

Featuring three episodes newly adapted for stage for 2024; ‘The Love of Three Oranges’, ‘The Miser’s Hoard’ and ‘The Making of Private Pike,’ Benson describes Dad's Army Radio Show as "the best idea I ever had" and inviting Jack Lane to perform it with him, "the second- best idea I ever had!"

The tour has been very well received with the Radio Times awarding the production five stars:

"David Benson and Jack Lane turn in sterling work as Walker and Pike respectively. Their touring Dad's Army Radio Show is superb; do catch it if you can. Benson and Lane’s two-man Army are a comedy force to be reckoned with.”
