An Evening with Charles Dale

Successful local actor, Charles Dale is appearing at the Torch on Saturday 19 October 2024 for an evening of fun and entertainment as he shares tall tales, home truths and some remarkable stories of his 40+ years as a star of stage and screen.

Charles’s show is a one-off fundraiser for the Torch Theatre.

Born in Tenby in 1963 Charles’ parents were keen amateur actors and his enthusiasm for acting started when he was very young. Charles left school at the age of 16 and became an assistant stage manager (through a Youth Opportunity Scheme) at the Torch Theatre where he stayed for a year. He took on occasional acting roles, and then moved to London and trained at LAMDA.

Rarely out of work over the intervening years Charles has worked for the English Shakespeare Company, in West End theatre and on Broadway. His versatility as an actor is demonstrated by parts ranging from Cyrano de Bergerac in the West End to his considerable work in television. He played Big Mac in Casualty for eight years – an amazing 354 episodes. Charles also played Dennis in Coronation Street for eighteen months and has recently more recently been seen in the very successful series Sherwood for the BBC.

Charles told us “I’m delighted to have been invited back to the Torch Theatre to do this one man show. It’s been a long time. As a patron of the Torch I’m pleased to be helping out at the same time as having a great evening with people in our community. Come along, it’s going to be good fun and you’ll be supporting a fantastic cause. And there may or may not be some tales of what went on behind the scenes at the Torch back in the day!”

Charles has many stories to share, a few songs to sing, he’ll recite some of the poems that were a Twitter/X sensation during lockdown and yes, he’ll answer a few questions from our audience. On 19 October Charles’s career comes full circle!

The show – ‘Talking B******s With Charles Dale - From the Torch Theatre to Broadway’ is at the Torch Theatre on Saturday 19 October at 7.30pm. Tickets are £25. Please be aware it may get a bit sweary at times!
