Blog No. 27 - Dame Titania Trott III

Local actor, Lloyd Grayshon, has truly enjoyed embodying the character of Titania Trott and eagerly anticipates the day when everyone can experience her magic first hand at the Torch Theatre festive pantomime this year, Jack and the Beanstalk.

Hello my darlings! Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Titania Trott III, a highly respected local potato farmer, and admired by many of the male population. I specialise in potatoes, and I own a company called Trott’s Taters. But Tanya, I hear you ask, how is it that you are the third Titania? Well, my cherubs, allow me to cast your mind back and wonder at the marvel that is our family tree and give you an insight into the history of the Trott name.

Once upon a time, in the quaint town of Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire, during the bustling 1700s, there stood a grand whaling fleet. The town was abuzz with the thrill of the hunt, as ships set sail to navigate the vast oceans in search of the mighty whales, their prized riches and precious blubber.

At the helm of one of these majestic ships was the legendary Captain Horatio Trott, a larger-than-life figure known for his daring exploits on the high seas. Captain Trott established his legacy in Milford, where his son, Herschel Trott, followed in his footsteps and became a renowned First Officer in the Navy alongside the illustrious Nelson.

As time passed, the Trott family's lineage branched out in different directions. Herschel my great, great, great, great…… well the stories passed down about him said he was great, but I think one ‘great’ is enough, wife Titania Trott and their daughter Titania Trott II, chose to settle down in Milford Haven and embrace the simpler life of farming in the lushness of Hakin. They nurtured the land, tilled the soil, and watched their crops flourish under the sun's golden rays. Generation after generation, the Trott family remained steadfast in their commitment to farming, the roots of their family tree intertwining with the earth.

And then there was me - Titania Trott III. A spirited and lively character who flitted through life with an air of mystery and charm. Despite being married multiple times, I always retained my beloved surname, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Trott family here in Milford Haven. Titania is a woman of many talents – a skilled farmer, a captivating beauty, and a devoted guardian of her family's heritage.

With a twinkle in my eye and a mischievous grin, I would regale my customers, with tales of the sea, weaving together fact and fiction in a tapestry of whimsical adventures. I often share anecdotes about my ancestor, Captain Horatio Trott, embellishing the stories with pantomime flair and playful exaggeration, and there was nothing I could not do with a potato.

And so, in the enchanting world of Milford Haven, Titania and her delightful son Jack’s story continues to unfold, a rich tapestry of history, humour, and heart. Titania Trott III twirls through life with grace and whimsy, a beacon of light in the town I call home.

So here we are today: same name, same land and same mean old giant taking our crops and livestock for himself. I’m sure if my ancestors had known he was around they would have been able to sort him out, but alas! We must play the hand we are dealt. I do hope you all will stop by for a little chat at some point and I very much look forward to seeing you soon.
