Blog No. 15 - Jordan Dickin
Hello, I’m Jordan Dickin and I work as the Executive Assistant here at the Torch Theatre.
I began working at the Torch in January 2019, joining the Front of House team as a Duty Manager and Box Office Assistant. My time on the Front of House team was great fun and every day was completely different. Some days I would be booking customers in for the latest blockbuster, the next I would be selling flashing wands and swords at our annual pantomime!
After working elsewhere during the height of COVID, I returned to the Torch in July 2021 to cover maternity leave in the Programming department. Together with the Executive Director, Ben Lloyd, I would help with booking in all of the exciting live shows that we have on our stages. Whether that be iconic tribute acts, hilarious stand-up comedians or our fantastic local community groups, I would liaise with their production companies to ensure that all of their needs were met. During this time, I worked very closely with the Marketing, Front of House and Technical teams to make sure that each department had the correct information needed to make each and every show a success.
I then moved into my current role of Executive Assistant in July 2022. I now cover a wide range of departments, primarily supporting the Marketing department. In my time I have helped with social media, sending out emails to our audiences about what shows or films we have coming up, and looking after the website and updating every day with each new event that goes on sale. My other responsibilities involve working with our Artistic Programme Co-ordinator, Janine, to curate our cinema programme and supporting the Senior Management Team by taking minutes at their weekly meetings.
Theatre is also a massive part of my life outside of work. I love to perform and have done so with many different amateur dramatic groups in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. I am very proud to be Director of Saundersfoot Footlights, a company which I have been involve with for nearly 8 years. I am quite often preparing for multiple shows at the same time and I’m really looking forward to performing on the Torch Theatre stage for the very first time in February 2024 in Artistic Licence’s production of Spamalot.
The best part of my job is working alongside such a wonderful group of people, all of whom put their life and soul into creating and providing top-quality theatre for the people of Pembrokeshire. I have always loved the Theatre and I feel very privileged to be working in the industry.
