Tides of Colour – Exhibition of recent work by Barbara Price

This exhibition includes some of the work from my visual diary in which I painted every day from the first day I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and during my treatment. there is also more recent work I have been working on since then which includes watercolours, oils, acrylics and clay.

“Journey through cancer” I managed to paint 115 watercolours and some acrylics showing my journey and how I felt ….I mainly painted the things around me and even painted the radiotherapy machine…. after the treatment and positive results since i have appreciated the little things in life and all of the colours seem so much brighter.

My recent work is still using my patchwork style of painting and I have been focusing on changes of colour with the seasons of the local headland, (Strumble Head) among other views. This view I see most days and yet until recently I hadn’t painted it, its almost as if I hadn’t seen it before! I have also reverted back to acrylics and oils after exhibiting a large oil of Haverfordwest during an outdoor exhibition.

I have also included some figures and portraits and also revived an interest in clay work and would like to create models of people who have appeared in my paintings…..some of which I hope to include in the exhibition, so I will be exhibiting a variety of materials …I enjoy exhibiting as it gives me a chance to see the work as a whole and get ideas of where to go next, it’s been an eventful few years and painting has been a very important part of this time.
